If he traded it for P/D legendary it's hacked. I would've thought he was just stupid, but that's too much of a coincidence for it to be a shiny.

Have to agree here. I remember a while back when a guy in /v/ was handing out shiny Arceus. Lots of them.

You can't put hacked Pokemon on the GTS. ti actually does ID checks on there. You can only trade hacked Pokemon through direct trade.

Actually, you can. It's not really hacking the pokemon into existence, it's making it so all pokemon you catch are shinies. There are videos of people doing it. People will do save states with flash roms, get the pokemon, trade it, reset, and you have a "legit" pokemon.
