A Wells Fargo ATM ate my Card.

Daniel had dropped me off in front of Starbucks this morning to get my morning joe.  There's a Wells Fargo ATM next door and I wanted to get some money.  I get my debit card and place it in the ATM ( Read more... )

That's really frustrating, I'm sure.

I used to service Wells Fargo ATM's, though, and it's not a simple matter to just send a tech over to retrieve the card. They contract ATM servicing through a 3rd party company (Loomis, I think) so they'd have to call their 3rd party provider, schedule a maintenance call, and more than likely you'd be waiting all day for them to get to the machine anyway.

I totally feel you though, and whomever removed the card reader should definitely have placed an out of order sign on it.

Thanks for explaining that. I didn't know what was all behind it. It wasn't the woman's fault, but I do wish they had said something about the machine being out of order.

Yeah, I was going to say - It's the Bank's ATM in name only. ATMs are serviced by a 3rd party and the Bank usually has little to do with the ATMs.

I guess I don't understand why this was the 'worse customer service'. She did her job precisely as it should have been done. While I agree that there should have been an out of order sign on the machine, that isn't her responsibility. She is just the unfortunate soul who happened to be unlucky today and got your call ( ... )

Dan,

Is it okay at times to blow off so steam? I don't expect your pity, but you don't need to be such a jerk about it either. Good grief, other people complain here as well and they don't get this kind of treatment.

So it is ok for you to be a jerk in your post, but when someone calls you on it, they become the jerk?

So be it.

Have a good life.

It's frustrating that someone did that to the WF ATM and I'm sure damned inconvenient. But, for security and fraud reasons, they have to close the account. It's too bad you weren't somewhere near the branch where I work (today, was the first day). We could have issued you a temporary ATM card to use until you received the replacement. Was the ATM attached to a branch? It would only have taken a few minutes.

After having a chance to calm down, I do understand. What branch are you working at?

I'm in Edina, right off of Vernon Avenue. I've been in the training program till yesterday. Today, I'll be sitting down with customers. I sort of shadowed yesterday and acted as stage director, directing customers depending on their needs.
