Today on Idolator, I'm debuting a new feature for them, covering the ups and downs of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. God and my schedule willing, I'll be doing this for them every Thursday for the foreseeable future.

i was just on idolator and saw the column- congrats. The intro is damn right that this is belated... how long ago did i ask you if they were going to give you your own chart column? great analysis, great writing, great job.

You did call it. It's really my fault; I think Maura was waiting for me to raise my hand and volunteer. I had to make sure it wouldn't mess with my day job too much - which it probably will, but still...

also, i don't know if this is a common reference to britney spears and this is only the first time i've heard it, or if you coined this genius phrase, but "ms waterloo in vegas" made me laugh out loud.

I did come up with that one! How about that - go me! You're making me blush, thanks.

I needed something new and Vegas-related, but the what-happens-in/stays-in shtick had been beaten into the ground.

perhaps my only piece of constructive criticism is that there wasn't nearly enough fergie-bashing. i still dislike her music, and this "big girls don't cry" nightmare isn't earning her any points in my book. she was at #5 and therefore a prime target! you should be bringing up the pee-pants incident at every possible opportunity. i need a column at idolator that is entitled "fergie sucks" in which i just post that picture of her with the wet spot in her pants every week.

Y'know, I was trying a weekly singles column like this late last year over on my WordPress blog; but once I hooked up with the Idolator folks, I rationalized that as long as I was gonna spend a couple of hours writing something this elaborate, I might as well get a bigger audience and some cash for it.

Which is a long way of saying, sorry I've been a lazy mofo when it comes to blogging this year. and hopefully this will provide a new outlet.
