Detached.

My grandma passed away on the 25th at 9am, Central Time. I didn't find out till just now though. I'm not really sad right now, just detached. That's kinda what I expected though. I knew this was coming and a couple of days ago my dad emailed me and told me that the nurse was only giving her a couple of days, so it's not a big surprise ( Read more... )

:( I'm sorry, ben. I hope she didn't suffer, and I sincerely hope your grandpa gets through this okay. My thoughts.

My mom said that she and my grandpa were okay with the way she went. She hasn't given me the details yet though.

Very sorry about your loss. I hate getting older, mostly because everyone around does too. My uncle died of complications from lung cancer a few weeks ago.

Your grandma seemed like a sweet lady. Maybe I just think that because she said I was pretty...

Thanks. Yeah she was very sweet. I remember she was sad that she didn't remember meeting you because of her sickness.

I think things like this are what makes you older, really. Corny thing to say maybe, but kinda true.

I suppose. Losses like this are so difficult to deal with. I was watching this home video of my parents' housewarming party in 2000. It was also a celebration of my father's father (who died before I was born). His children (my dad included) sat in a circle, and they all had to talk about him. Everyone wept so hard that it was difficult to speak. I wonder how I'll be years from now. If time doesn't really heal this kind of wound. Maybe it just scabs over and if you pick at it again, it bleeds like it did when you first got hurt...

Like any good scab, maybe if we ignore it and don't touch it it won't bleed so much.

I love these scab analogies.
