[Lockon has just returned from work when Tieria and Setsuna arrive; he's taking off his suit jacket as they step inside. He glances up, expressionless, as he's been far too much over the past few days.]
I was wondering when you'd get back.
[No cheer in his voice, just a flat statement. He was worried. But that doesn't mean he's happy to see them now, somehow. He's not sure how that can be, but it doesn't matter.]
[He was naturally skeptical of the process, but what choice did they have? As Tieria follows Setsuna inside, he directs him a knowing (if stilted) nod and wastes no time shutting the door behind them. When Lockon makes himself known, Tieria can only steel himself at that empty look, responding as firmly as he can manage.]
We have something extremely important to give you, Lockon.
[He opens his hands. It resembles a crystal of some kind, small and deep red-- seemingly a common color association to represent human emotion, he notes, and actually finds himself having an idea why this is so. In any case, he maintains a steady but gentle grip so as not to damage or tarnish a single edge. What was supposed to happen now?]
[He supposes it would always be there, that small indication of hurt upon seeing Lockon treat them in such a manner-but the concern instantly takes over, along with the understanding that this is not Lockon's own doing, that he would never act this way otherwise.
His eyes drifts down to the shard in Tieria's hand; he doesn't know what to expect, either. All he knows is that this is going to work, and that belief is all he hangs onto right now.]
[But he cuts off there, because he can sense something's happening. The crystal is glowing--and then it dissolves into a faint, red, ghost-like image. It's Lockon, but this one is smiling.]
I am the emotion of--
[The ghostly image seems to hesitate for a moment. What should he say here? Love? Maybe once upon a time. No. Now it's just kindness. And--]
--affection.
[The reddish ghost holds out a hand, and with a bemused blink, Lockon takes it. The image quietly vanishes, leaving Lockon to suddenly stumble. He's smiling now, but it's a rueful expression as he realizes just how much the loss changed him and how he treated others.]
This feeling...
[He looks up, suddenly more vulnerable than usual, almost overwhelmed.]
