I was reading 'Hot, Flat and Crowded' by Friedmann (during those interminable baby feeding hours) and he quotes Machiavelli on change - he's referring to Clean energy etc but I think it applies very well to the health care reform debate

For all that he said some highly politically incorrect things, that sly little bastard Machiavelli got a lot of things absolutely correct, especially when it comes to the behavior of large groups of people.
