I think Sci Fi now owns the rights and they were toying with making more episodes. The problem is that since the movie, there was sort of a resolution to most things...

Yeah, it does make it difficult to ressurect a series when you kill off two main characters and unshroud much of the mystery of..... well, everything. But hey, I have faith in Joss Whedon. Hell, he can make a cheerleading vampire-slayer B movie into a gigantic sucess, I'm sure he can do this.
