My brother's depression and lack of dealing with it is taking a toll on my family. I want to help my brother succeed, but I really don't know what to do. He has no interests or hobbies beyond playing video games, eating, and sleeping. He seems to have no motivation to do anything to alleviate the depression he faces. I relate to that feeling of feeling ignored, not feeling understood, feeling helpless. I hope things get better for you. i would maybe try al anon [help for those who have a sick family member] tho it's focus is alcoholism; i hate how these things are so specific... good luck <3

Perhaps something happened to him that no one knows about, or someone is hiding the truth about. Only he can make the decision to break the mold he's in, but while he's hurting, he's hurting you and everyone else around him and it's not fair to you. His sense of self is developing differently, at its own pace. It should be respected, but your own boundaries need to be respected as well.
