Didn't want to waste this on just a comment

So far, in all the years I've had this journal I've never made a serious effort to relate my views on the whole gay-marriage debate. Mostly because I'm afraid I'll do a poor job of expressing such passionate opinions and also because...I just don't understand it ( Read more... )

well my opinion is that gay marriage is wrong and that it should be legal to have a partnership but not marriage.Marriage is supposed to be death do us part.which means,if i die i am waiting for my wife in heaven when she passes.U cant wait in heaven if u are gay.But it has to be a limit on how gays affect our children.Kids learn off of what they see.If they see two men kissing at age 11 they get curious. We have to teach our kids right from wrong as parents.

For the record, not everyone, not even every Christian, believes that gay people are barred from heaven. Only something as unambiguous as Jesus himself appearing in the flesh before me stating clearly that homosexuality is a sin would make me believe it, and not someone's prejudiced and narrow-minded interpretation of a centuries-old religious text. My claim is that if your religion says you can't eat meat, then you don't eat meat. If your religion says you can't marry a man, then don't marry a man. But from where I'm standing, you have about as much authority to keep gay people from marrying as I have to force you into a marriage.

And I'm still waiting to hear a non-religious reason why two men kissing is in and of itself, fundamentally and objectively evil and wrong. And how Britney Spears's one-day marriage is somehow ok while two harmless gay men can get laughed out of a courthouse. And just because they aren't marrying doesn't mean they're not going to be kissing in public where your children can see them. Try to limit that.

I worry about gays marrying; They might register somewhere expensive.
