Why not use Illustrator? It's got that nifty pen tool that helps with lines.

Illustrator? I don't know what that is. When I googled it, I just kept getting adobe photoshop links.

It sounds promising for future projects. I'm already too far into my current ones. And I was kind of editing the lines and shapes and stuff, so I figure a more hands on approach was necessary anyway.

Illustrator is another Adobe product. You can draw entire pictures with Illustrator.

*poke* Do you know anything about India Ink and how to use it?

I've used it before. It's been a couple of years though. And I was only playing around.

The only suggestions I can really give is to make sure you have good quality paper -- maybe something with a good texture or something -- and to use a skinny brush, maybe one that's a little angled. I noticed that I had better luck with those things. Oh, and to really plan out ahead of time what you want to be all dark and stuff. I ruined a few drawings with it.

I wasn't too willing to spend too much time with it. It was a little messy for me. I kept getting the ink on my face somehow.

I eventually just decided to use special pens for inking, because I had a lot more control over the lines. It doesn't get the same wispy lines, though.

So a brush as opposed to nibs?

Totally. But that might be just a personal preference sort of thing. I tried to use nibs and I kept messing up. It was a lot easier for me to get straight, even lines using a brush. It was also a lot easier to adjust the width of the line mid stroke, too. I am rather inexperienced when it comes to nibs though. Brushes were just more intuitive for me.
