With nine vacation days still available to me for the remainder of the year, I decided to take one in order to have a guided tour of a rail destination I've largely neglected, though with the best intentions to someday visit -- St. Louis.  It's just as close as Chicago now (which is to say, close enough for a daytrip).  So starting when my alarm ( Read more... )

Where is AO Smith? I suppose I'll know if I get the detailed map from you. :)

I did omit the very first photo of the day, of a UP train passing Lennox tower which is were we all rendezvoused to begin our day.

The shot with the TRRA switchers and the waiting UP engine doesn't even look real.

BTW, Oct 31 and Nov 2 look good schedule-wise, but there's only two people working Nov 1: Mouthbreather and I. I shot an e-mail to my boss to see if something could be worked out. I'll let you know what he says Monday.

TODAY IS NOW WEDNESDAY.

I have taken Nov 3-4 off so I'll have seven days clear starting Oct 31. Make plans and get ideas of what you might want to see here.

Wow, some excellent pics here. I sense if I knew more about trains I'd be even further impressed. :)

Next time you go to St Louis, you utterly need to hang out with warphammer, who's a top-not photographer and would, I imagine, enjoy expeditions like this. Plus he knows everyplace to eat in the city. :)

Ooooh, I hope I did well by choosing Gus's! I'd like to find some good food down on Laclede's Landing for when I retry the power plant shot.
