Vacation consisted of a seven-day period in which I did not work (another nice thing about my job -- if I take a two-day work set off, I get seven days off in a row), and all seven days were spent on the road though I was home at night for a couple of them.

ICE is NICE. But its days are numbered, quite literally. ICE is just a few days away from being taken over by Canadian Pacific, and in some of these photos it seems like it already has been, since ICE has leased several CP locos to help out with increasing traffic and several ICE locos being lost to wrecks over the past year.

Looks like you picked a perfect time to take a vacation. Nice variety of colors on the trains and the trees.

Also, thats pretty good to catch the QJs and an ICE OCS, along with street running and B&O CPLS all in the same vacation.

What type of camera do you use?

I'd had this particular week reserved for a vacation for several months. Autumn is a great time of year for chasing trains around -- the light is good, the trees are colorful, and the temperatures are pleasant. It was good fortune that the weather was mostly clear and there were unusual moves to be had.

I use a Canon 40D body with two lenses, 17-85 and 75-300.

Beautiful. I'm amazed to see the colors still so brilliant out there. Everything here is dead already.
