A while back some people expressed interest in having a look at what my living space looks like nowadays. Since I'm bored this evening, I'll oblige:
Living room only, but here are points of possible interest listed from right to left:
- Desk bearing huge iMac and custom (by me) model of now-retired INRD SD60 6007 (figures that after the work I did on it, Athearn's about to release a ready-to-run version).
- Peeking around the corner to the front door is the treadmill, which blocks the front door when the treadway is folded down.
- Lounge chair with other old chair in front of it for makeshift footrest.
- TV/DVD/Wii etc. atop gas fireplace that doesn't see use because it reeks when it's fired up. Cord for newly-purchased Wii is still hanging visibly because I haven't put in a power strip behind the TV for it to plug into. That will be remedied soon.
- Coffee table due for replacement, with camera bag and Wii controllers on top, rug and "new" floor (from last year's broken-pipe flooding) beneath.
- Cab seat from a Southern Pacific GP9 (with nice embossed logos not visible) mounted on a box, useful for adding/removing muddy shoes by the garage door.
- Framed Pseudo-Manitou artwork representing the four seasons, purchased at AC'08.
- Charcoal-and-black sofa recently acquired in an adventure featuring fire and acts of daring-do, being perched upon by a yawning cat who clearly isn't impressed.
- Bookshelf in need of organization. Right now it bears few books, some VHS tapes I dusted off last month, and some models that had been evicted from...
- Display case featuring several of my favorite models -- that favor shifts from time to time, so you end up with some being swapped out periodically. On top of it is the number plate for one of the most photographed signals in the state, which fell early last year to the march of progress. Seen in service here.
That's the living room only, of course, that doesn't include the dining area, kitchen, bathroom, or two bedrooms -- don't expect any later installments, you'll just have to come visit if you really want to see them!
