29 Years And...

Well, as of tonight, the day after my parents' 29th wedding anniversary, I find that my father and mother are filing for divorce. It seems they're on equally peaceful terms, my father extending the notion after pointing out that neither of them had been truly happy together for a long time now, to which my mother agreed. No sobbing was done,

Well, I'm glad to hear that the split was amicable. That does make everything easier for all involved. As far as Anya, seeing as she was apparently unaware of your parents' issues until recently, it would make sense that her reaction would be more intense. She wasn't seeing the need for the split firsthand.

As far as your reaction, I'm glad your mom was speaking to you about it far in advance. I think it's important for parents in general to be as honest as possible in these sorts of situations, no matter what age their kids are. There's something extra upsetting about knowing something's amiss between one's parents and having both of them deny it or pretend it's not happening.

To that, I agree. I imagine you had the firsthand experience with this to have some valid authority on the subject. I still worry about both of them, but hopefully that will pass, eventually.
