This was so lovely! The idea that Irina might not immediately be overcome with maternal feelings is rare and difficult, but you made me feel like this was the only way that she could possibly feel in this situation. That in addition to her current grief for her daughters...guh. So wonderful and emotional! Great job

Thank you! Irina's relationship with both Syd & Nadia IS so very different from the norm; she's not very maternal, and yet she has such affection from a distance. It fascinates me, because I do love kids and want very much to have them. So this sort of came out of that. I'm glad you liked it!

And that's the whole thing, isn't it? I mean, I love Irina with a hot and fiery girlcrush love, but she's isn't NICE. She's smart and badass, but not NICE...so what must it have been like for her to have to pretend to BE nice for all those years? It would have driven me nuts!
