i think that marraige really isnt a religious thing. many people are not even married in churches or by church people. churches should have the right to say no to marrying gay people but i think that the state should not be allowed to say no. marraige was originally more of a bussiness contract. it wasnt about religion it was about property and wealth. and dates back before christianity. it was like merging two corperations. the fact that people more often marry for love now has changed a lot of things but in a way it is still more of a bussiness contract. you are legally saying that you are joined to someone, you get benifits, and you are legally binded to them as far as finances and debt. the fact that marraige is a legal contract says to me that it is clearly more a matter of state and law than it is of religion. i know that marraige is important in religion but seeing as all marraiges that are real marraiges are legal contracts but not all marraiges, in fact a great deal, are not done by the church or have anything to ( ... )

I learned something new just now!

But yeah, I'd pretty much have to agree with that. I just didn't think it was fair to force the church to participate in something that went against their beliefs, ya know?

Too bad it's not easy to make everyone happy.
