...and suddenly, Melusine wasn't in Italy anymore (unless Italy had, in a short period, decided to transform completely, which she thought unlikely, because Italy wasn't, as far as she knew, prone to doing things like that), but...somewhere else entirely.

She appeared to be in a small alley, though, and small alleys really don't do much for ( Read more... )

When she leaves the alleyway, Melusine emerges into a wide empty street. It is a quiet place of old-fashioned buildings surrounded by a thin veil of fog, one that somehow feels almost charmingly haunting.

The population in this place seems eerily absent. If she looks about, Melusine will find only two other living beings on the street... A cloaked figure slowly walking down the other side of the street and being followed by a gray cat of rather generous proportions.

Rather lonely, isn't it.

The girl looks up at the buildings. She's appreciating their structure and the haunting sense they give, but starts when someone passes her.

Her eyes widen and she holds on to her small bag tightly as she runs across the street and towards the cloaked man.

"Excuse me, sir," she says, in a politely questioning voice. "Could you perhaps tell me where I am? I'm afraid I'm a bit lost."

That's a very fat cat, she reflects in the meantime.

The man stops once Melusine's voice reaches him, his relaxed posture shifting into a more upright one. One of his hands leaves the pocket and rises to his uniform's cowl, pulling it off as he turns around to face the girl.

What faces her is a man of about her age, with sky-blue hair, slender features and large, expressive eyes of deep crimson.

"Lost?" His head leans back a bit, enhancing the curiosity in his eyes. "How exactly did you get lost around here?"

His ridiculously well-fed feline companion uses this situation to press against the man's leg and peer at the girl from below.

She smiles at the cat, widely, then looks back at the man's face. Her eyes narrow ever-so-slightly as she takes him in and commits his appearance to memory. Something about him seems...off, but not unpleasantly so. But she goes back to her polite smile easily.

"I, well-- You'll think I'm crazy, but I ended up in that alley over there all of a sudden. It was rather unexpected. This...isn't Italy anymore, is it?" No, Dorothy, you're not in Kansas anymore.
