DSSG I'M STILL ON BOOK TWO. LET ME QUOTE THE EXCERPT THEY PICKED FOR THE BACK OF THE FUCKING BOOK:
"Shoot," I muttered when the paper sliced my finger; I pulled it out to examine the damage. A single drop of blood oozed from the tiny cut.
It all happened very quickly then.
Edward threw himself at me, flinging me across the table... I tumbled down to the floor by the piano, with my arms thrown out instinctively to catch my fall, into the jagged shards of glass. I felt the searing, stinging pain that ran from my wrist to the crease inside my elbow.
Dazed and disoriented, I look up from the bright red blood pulsing out of my arm into the fevered eyes of the six suddenly ravenous vampires.
AND OH YEAH, THEY DON'T END UP EATING HER AND ENDING THE WHOLE TRAVESTY THEN AND THERE. IT IS SO TERRIBLE, JACKIE, RUN. RUN AWAY.
but you have to keep reading, the next two books have huge amounts of Jacob. I like to imagine one day Edward gives in and slaughters Bella, prompting he and Jake to fight to the death and then the winner sits with Bella's headless body in his lap, crying... I'm crossing my fingers for this being the plot of book four.
idk man, it was like eating cream cake, I knew I shouldn't, and I felt physically sick after about four bites, but I was enjoying myself a little so I kept going.
I have more issues with representations of gender and teenagers in the books than I do with the bad writing; and you know, years of reading badfic with a slight sneer has pretty much immured me to taking any Mary Sue seriously.
