Today, I found a bird. It was large and very colorful. I think it is called a parrot in Japanese. It looked like it was hurt and it could not fly away when I came near it, even though it tried. I feel bad for the bird ( Read more... )

Hopefully there is someone on the island who knows about animals who could help it recover. Does it have a broken wing, or something? I don't think there would be any harm in feeding the bird just long enough to get its strength back up...

I do not know. I do not know anything about animals. But yes, I think it is the wing. It could not fly away from me when I came near it, even though it tried really hard to.

You think it would being okay to feed it?

It could also be its feathers - I think if the major flight feathers are damaged it can cause problems as well.

I would think so, while it's getting back to health. I think they eat fruits and seeds.

I see. You are very smart, Seiichi.

I will give it the seeds from the fruits we eat. I want it to get better.

Hey, maybe An-chan can fix it up! She works wonders with me, why not a bird?

And if she doesn't know, maybe you can bug Kaidoh. He's that big scary guy with a green bandana, currently living in my shack - he studies animals, so he might know something about it.

If An-chan is not available, I would be willing to take a look at it.

That said, I agree that Kaidou-kun is your best resource on how to care for the bird.

Danke, Hiroshi. I would appreciate that muchly if you could do that. And if you are not knowing, then I will take it to Kaidou.

Hmm, while I would normally say it would be best to leave it alone and allow nature to regulate itself, I'm not sure I'd be able to walk away from a wounded animal either... ^^;

How is it doing?

It is doing good. It is having a broken wing. But I think in time it will heal and fly again.
