On today's News : An elderly couple and their son have been found in their shared apartment months after they starved to death. Over 700 deaths of starvation have been reported in Japan since 2000. Many of these people didn't contact welfare and didn't leave their homes out of shame. -

recently the rate of earthquakes has increased again. There is one magnitude 4-5 quake in Honshu every day. Although one can feel them in Tokyo, the city has not been hit so far. Scientists have updated their predictions. Now a magnitude 7-8 (like the 1995 Kobe earthquake) is believed to occur in Tokyo within the next 4 years. -

The relatively bright orange star in the direction of the moon today is Mars. It's been some years since he was so visible. Keep an eye out for that one. it's been 34/35 degrees for over two weeks. going outside is like swimming in hot soup. with a hint of umami. garbage trucks leave a 100-300m trail of putrid air which makes going to work by bicycle in the morning a special experience. -

due to looming power shortages this summer because of nuclear plant problems since the earthquake in March our university came up with the following glorious plan to save energy.
