It would seem that, Ezekiel or not, this angel doesn't wish harm to Castiel per se, but he also is unwilling to let Castiel's problems put himself at risk.
Yes, a very nice summation. And I am definitely intrigued as to the reasons behind it all. I could easily believe that Zeke is not who he claims to be. We're only 3 eps in so I guess we shall find out eventually, but I always forget how painful all the setting up of these season arcs are. Poor Dean, poor Sam, poor Cas. I suppose it really means you are one of the family if your storyline is the one used to make break the boys heart in whatever scheme the writers have cooked up this time :)
My prediction is that, given the purpose of the show and the writers seems to be to take the hardest path possible for anything, ironically, Cas will thrive at this second enforced separation. Because what could be more painful for Dean and Sam than to ask Cas to come home, and to have Cas hesitate. And equally for Cas to feel like he has started to have people rely on him in the new niche he has carved out for himself, so when the call comes, he feels like he can't just up and leave his new pals.
Given SPN's track record, I have utter faith in the lads all being side by side come the finale. But I am equally prepared for the writers to make us suffer before then.
And yes, I agree, I think Ezekiel is not all who he claims to be. But we are watching you closely, kiddo...

I think you might be right about Castiel gaining another "gang to run with". I'd be quite interested in a storyline like that for him. He hasn't had his loyalties so painfully divided since his first season on the show when he first started to trust Dean over his angelic superiors.
Of course, his new friends will most likely betray him because Cas has quite the track record for trusting the wrong people...
Hmm, I didn't understand why Dean didn't just tell Cas the truth...that there's an angel in Sam who will leave and let him die if Cas doesn't leave. I assumed it was just because it didn't suit the plot as well. But it seemed weird to me. Cas would leave if he thought Sam was in danger after all.
Heh. Well, I suppose the main reason Dean didn't tell Cas about it was to increase the dramatic tension. But I like to imagine that there may be various character motives (not just writer motives - if you get my drift).
Gotta say, the new stuff with Castiel and also Kevin has got me more interested in SPN than I have been for a few seasons now.
Actually, speaking of Kev, he might not react well to the news that Dean was willing to turn out an old friend like that. Cas might have a martyr streak to rival Dean's but Kevin has major trust issues. Hasn't he already said that he thinks he will end up dead once the Winchesters have no further use for him?
Yeah, I get it's for the angst, but couldn't they just throw in a real reason as to why he doesn't tell him? It's starting to bug me no end...
Yeah, I'm sure Kevin will not like the whole kicking out part of the family thing.
I got into the bad guys last season. I'm hoping something kicks up my interest a bit more this season. I'm watching, but when they just angst it up for no reason, it's starting to bother me. It needs to at least make sense.
