The more things change, the more they ... just keep changing.
And, of course, they stay the same as well, but it's always the changes that we notice.
So now I'm officially clear of 25 years of credit card debt, and had it not been for $400 spent on getting the van back up and running, I'd already be in the black. But, of course, Murphy nhas it in for me. But at least I had that $400 to put into repairs, and my friend Gary suggested a mechanic who was not only good, but thorough, which was not, alas, true of my previous one. Next payday I'll edge over into the black a little bit, and increase until probaby January, when I plan on replacing my van with something newer and more efficient.
Well, mostly. Also had car registration due (need Smog, of course), driver's license renewal (and this yuear I actually need to go it and get a new picture taken), AAA renewal, etc. due this month. But progress, while slow, is possible.
So ... life continues. The Monday night band has a fairly stable sax section now, and is tightening up nicely. Wednesday has been more problematic, just because our players are very good, and always seem to nhave gigs on rehearsal night. When we get to around a quarter subs, we cancel the rehearsal. Sundays are still a 'substitute only" situation, which is fine with me. I like some nights off. And I've been invited to play in a brass choir on Thursdays, which might be fun. Gotta get my trumpet chops back up, first.
Too much trombone work can play hob with your high range and trumpet endurance.
Work has also been a place of change, of sorts.
Our lease has been renewed for another 10 years, and as that includes new paint and carpet (and, apparently, tile), the building management people have been coming through measuring and talking about logistical things like where to put all of the things like files and cabinets while they are painting. We have LOTS of files and cabinets.
And the office has apparently been given at least a little bit of funding, as the boss was allowed to hire a temp to help the Paralegal staff out. Alas, the first one lasted 2 1/2 days, but there is hope for the future.
Well, most of it. Ourt lead secretary, Dorothy, has announced that she's retiring at the end of June.
Changes, changes, changes...
Of course, some changes are easier than others. I recently came across a transcription of a tune... apparently transcribed in Europe. Chord changes include the following: E-, E-9, E-, H7, E-, E7, A-, E7, D9.
H7? Yeah - in Europe (possibly just Germany) that's what they call a B7 chord. Gotta re-do the guitar and piano and bass parts for that one...
But not all change is bad. Hmmm... I have to do laundry tomorrow - need quarters for that.
And politics is all about change.
It's funny in its own way. There is a current pattern of "anti-incumbent" politics being promoted by the Mainstream Media ... who have a vested interest in changing away from a Democratic administration, but the recent primaries have so far been replacing members of the do-nothing/Party of No members, and electing democrats.
I have a feeling November won't be as bad for the dems as the MSM is claiming and hoping.
But only time will tell, and we'll have to wait to see what changes.
