I never understood how to transfer files from one computer to another over a router-based network. I know you can do it with a crossover cable, but it never worked for me.
Care to enlighten me?
J just got an external hard drive, so we're good for now, but I'd really like to know how to do this. I can do it with netmeeting I guess...but that's slow and i'm a little worried using it.
one is w2000 (sp4) and one is xp pro. I think they don't see each other as is. and how do i configure the firewall to not worry about the traffic between those two?
if this is more complicated than comment chat should be, don't worry about it. You complain about troubleshooting and one of your buddies says "Can you troubleshoot my network???? Can you???"
Good luck with the problems anyway--I hate them too...that's a crappy feeling.

So you can just "share" a folder by right-clicking on it and picking sharing, and let the other computer connect to it.
