National Gaurd in New Orleans given shoot to kill orders

I just read this in the online news that the Governor of Louisiana has given National Guard troops orders of "Shoot and Kill" to end the "rampant violence in New Orleans". What is this situation during into? I know that there is violence taking place in New Orleans. However, as a veteran what ever happened to the rules of engagement Fire if Fired ( Read more... )

No disagreement here about the response and actions taken by Nixon, Bush Sr, and Clinton. I was stationed at the NAS in Belle Chase just south of New Orleans in the late 80's and we had a cat 3 hit us in 88. Certain area's of New Orleans started to flood and we were ordered into the city to rescue people in chest high water before the storm had even passed and that was during the Reagan years. There was none of this "Help is on the way" shit ( ... )
