So today is Saturday and boy did I have a bunch of stuff planned, I think though...I only did...30% of it, haha.

I went to sleep late last night (Friday) because I was hanging out with the other instructors and TAs. I woke up around 8:30 which is about a hour and a half after when I normally wake up. It felt good to sleep in, haha. I then headed to breakfast and ate with another instructor. Went back to my room and didn't do anything...in fact I took a nap.

I thought that the cafeteria opens from 8-2, I was wrong..it opens from 8 - 1. Yeah, I missed lunch. And on the way up I was craving a tuna melt - yummy. I was sorely disappointed. So then, not knowing what else to do with myself I decided to head back on down to my room grab my stuff and hike back up to the TA/RA/instructor workroom to make sure Day 6 (Monday) is all done. I think it is. I had to readjust it since my kids were having difficulty with PCR. Biotech B last year seemed to have gotten it better, but I think it's because I teach these kids DNA one day, and the next I teach them how it duplicates, and then the next day I teach them how to replicate it in a fast-action sequence artificially...I don't think I could've understood it either. I am not too sure how those that seemed to have understand did. Amazing.

Of course, I got a call from Angelina which totally lifted my hungry spirits. Yay.

In the afternoon, I fixed my syllabus, preped for Day 6, and then rearranged the week so that it'll make sense. I am looking forward to this week since this is kind of the meat of the course where they get to do lots of hands on stuff like learn pedigree analysis, determine sickle cell amenia, learn about cancer and how p53 is used and how a pedigree can help predict the percentages and how a gel can be used to confirm suspecions, learn how to do DNA fingerprinting, perform Bacteria transformation via a GFP, and of course how to test for HIV. Holy crap, I just re-read that sentence and even I can't believe that we're going to cover all that. I must be insane to first even cover all of that in a semester let alone in 5 days. The last week is going to be much more cruise. I am going to teach them GMO and how to clone stuff. And then we may have a philosophical debate with the philosophy class...I am thinking that the students want it because there are hot people in it, their words not mines. We also have a field trip, a possible speaker. For labs, I want to teach them research design, test for water quality, do some bioinformatics, and of course do some bioterrorism (woohoo). Yeah, I am ambitious.

I got to eat an early dinner - which I finally got to eat my tuna melt (and everyone at my table said it looked *really* good...I like my tuna melt with lots of tuna, mayo, cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce on toasted bread. Yummy). After dinner I intended to go back up to work on evals and for Tuesday...but I got sidetracked and invited to watch My Super ExGirlfriend. It was okay, funny at certain parts. Kind of lame at others. More like a dollar movie. I would pay $6 at the most for it (LOL, haha...).

Now, because I went to see the movie, I will try to start writing sample evals and see if they are going to fly. I hope to at least write one or two in rough version. grrr
