Writing my historiographical essay is kind of dissapointing and scary because it reminds me that there is no debate about my thesis topic (only one book has been written on the subject). So if the archives have nothing, I have nothing. Scary.

Think of it as pathbreaking! As soon as you put out an argument, someone can reconsider/counter it. Voila, debate!

If it makes you feel better, the Initiative Grant letter says I need a hypothesis and my sample is too homogenous.

Yea I guess the Initiative Grant didn't like my application either, supposedly they don't pay to send people fishing. Cool.
