I'm grieving the loss of a colleague today. Eve and I were close in the way that some families are close -- we whined and complained at each other, frequently were frustrated by each other's behaviour, but were bound by begruding ties of loyalty and affection. Thanks, and I am sorry too, about your mom. I know how it is with parents. I dream about my father fairly often. The death of a parent leaves an absence that stubbornly refuses to be filled.

I am sorry for your loss. It's never easy.

That said, this is a damn fine piece of writing, Sir. Your turns of phrase, word choices and the pictures you painted really brought out what you were trying to say to a place where I could touch, taste and feel it. Hence, I am truly sorry for your loss....

I'm sorry to hear this. I completely empathise with your feelings about a person seemingly vanishing. Where do they go? I think we've discussed this before, but it never gets any easier to understand or accept that everything that made a person who they were - their memories, knowlegde, opinions, wisdom - can just disappear.
