Counters? Like, collective nouns?

Basically counters go on the end of numbers to indicate what kind of object it is you're counting. So if you were counting sheets of paper " 1mai, 2mai, 3mai" with "mai" being the generic counter for thin flat things, you could be just as easily counting t-shirts. Every size category or group of related objects have a counter... its just a pain to remember which goes with which.
