Sleeepy

It was some hard to get up this morning. *yawn* The lights really disappearing- I just checked the times, the suns rising at 10:37am and setting at 12:58pm. That would explain the tiredness. Won't be much longer and it'll have disappeared entirely. Officially it starts coming back December 21st, but you have to wait till mid January to see it come ( Read more... )

I don't know how you do it...all that time without sunlight. I'd like to experience it for myself one day though. It's really interesting reading about where you live because it's so different. And you know, I'd have to agree with you about the Narwhal business. I think the media is just looking for a story to get viewers all emotional even if it means distorting the facts. It's honestly too bad that way. I think we do a lot worse things to animals and the environment than this. And even in this case, the reason why some are dying is so that the rest have a chance at living, and the dead ones won't go to waste anyway. >:-(

The lack of sun isn't too bad. Its just odd how it affects your body. Vitamin D and bright lamps help.

Its nice to hear that someone agrees! I think the media shouldn't be allowed to say certain things "slaughted. crisis. economic downturn." lol. But really. With a lot of things, they're causing panic. For nothing. They say the wrong thing and stocks will collapse! Its stupid.

On a side note: Icon Love!

One of the big things you learn is: You have to get out. Doesn't matter how much you love it, you have to get out, even if its for an extra long weekend every 6 months. Very Important. Its not like down south where you can drive 2 hours to the nearest big city. The nearest 'city' is Yellowknife, which is about 3 hours away by plane.
Some people can go years without getting out, but then you see it in them, the slightly crazed, overreacting to everything look.

It's amazing, the power the idiot box holds over people who have totally abandoned reading in this modern age of ours.

You can tell them anything, paint it up with official colors, slap a big news stations logo in a corner somewhere and voila, here be The Truth. And nothing you say will turn their heads 'cause hey, they heard it on the news.

By the way, it's comforting to know that some people have it worse off than us here in Southern Finland. I'm glad I don't live in the Norhtern parts because they have it almost as bad as you there. I love sun, even though I dislike heat.

I <3 reading.
The news has turned into a circus lately though it seems. They tend to be more interested in sensational stuff (Oh! Soandso is pregnant! OMGNEWS) than you know, actually news.

I'm the same way, I love sun, but dislike heat. I'm good until it hits about 26*C. Then I start to go bleh. And there's always somewhere that has it worse! The farthest north(and south) its 6months of 24hr light, 6 months dark, or some such. So it could always be worse. :)

I thought winter in New Jersey is brutal... I'm going to stop complaining now.

hehehe. Oh this is nothing. Its when it hits -40*C with a windchill of -63 (our max last year, I think) that it's brutal.

I agree with you on the narwhal thing, and all we discussed in the previous post of yours. Also, I think it's so unfortunate that everyone will believe whatever their tv tells them. I see so much ignorance today and I think it's just a shame that people don't do their own research about anything anymore. I don't mean that everyone should go out and read a thousand page book on every little subject matter they might encounter, but really use some common sense and read up a little on things before making yourself look like a jackass, you know what I mean?

So, all in all, I agree with you (but when is that news? :p)!

(also, I would go completely insane without sunlight!)

Mmm ignorance. It's so not bliss. Its always fun when someone does 'research' online, finds one site which sorta supports them if they read it wrong and that is "The Truth". You can show the 50 respected websites that dispute their claim, but nope! Nuh-uh. Not liiiissteniiiinng! lol. People aren't very good at admitting they're wrong. Who is, really.

(Nooo you wouldn't. ^_^; Theres only about 4 weeks without any. And it does rise close to the horizon, so it gets brighter at lunch time. kinda like a early dawn, without the colour. If that makes sense?)
