R.I.P. My Beloved Puppy, Fredders

Mar 27, 2008 19:57

I received a phone call at 7:05 this morning from my dad. I let it go to voicemail and listened to it immediately to see if it was an emergency. You scared me, I though Cheyenne had died.

I'm so sorry to hear about Fred. I hope you're pulling through ok. Did they figure out why there was fluid in his lungs? At least you were able to see him recently. How old was he? ::hugs::

Heh...I thought I had put Fred's name in the title. I was still a bit delusional. He was 14 years old...so he didn't lead a full life (as dachshunds tend to live 18-20 years), but he was by no means young either. He had valley fever half his life, which induced the occasional seizure, so I never really expected him to live his full lot. It just really caught me off gaurd that's not what killed him.

Awhile back he had two teeth removed, opening up holes that led through his respiratory system to his lungs. My dad had to start spreading his food out on the floor like chicken feed so he couldn't eat it so fast it would get lodged into the holes and choke him. I don't know where the fluid came from, but my dad mentioned something about those holes. ::shrug::

I'm so sorry.
I know how much it hurts to lose someone so dear to you, but at least you had the opportunity to say goodbye.

I hope you're doing alright, and just call if you need someone to talk to.
