1. I just remember that I liked everything about your journal. It was the first really consciously designed journal I’d seen, and it looked really good. But the main thing was the tone and quality of writing-conversational, but very good quality, showing thoughtfulness and intelligence. Hard qualities to come by, and you’ve never disappointed me. :-) 2. The Beatles, Lady Madonna. I associate you strongly with the Beatles in general, naturally. I don’t listen to them that often, so they still feel “fresh” to me. N and I were going somewhere the other day, and Lady Madonna came on the radio. I didn’t really know the song, but we both listened to it with such deep attention and enjoyment, because the song *makes* you do so. N and I said to each other, “Man, they really were geniuses, weren’t they?” Such untamed, passionate creativity. Anyway, I thought about you, and how you seem influenced by that, and thought I might understand why you’re such a Beatles fan

I was a very rich kid because of the values I inherited and the support of loving people. Money is nice but I always found the best things in life are the things you got on your own.
I bought my first car. I worked as soon as I could so I could buy my own clothes, records, etc. I never asked them for anything but they would have given me whatever I asked for. All I ever asked from them was support and love, and I had all could ever hope for.
4. This isn’t a first memory, because we’d been LJ friends for awhile, but I remember talking to you about the issues and candidates in the Kerry vs. Bush race. We got into some involved discussions,
