Back on the streets, Andrew slowly walked the length of the pavement, hands tucked deep in to his pockets, eyes scanning along the unfamiliar buildings and adorning signs. It had only been a short while, about an hour or so at most, since he had parted with that "Scotty" fellow, and he had since set off on his own, trying his best to cope with the realization that things weren't going to be the same -- not for quite some time, at least. His mind darted from question to question, glancing by the most immediate and physical needs, and it wasn't until he caught a glance of the cloudy sky that he realized how important it would be to have a roof overhead. From his earlier conversation with his new... "friend" or something, he remembered a brief mention of a house in this general area, which would provide both shelter and much-needed company ( ... )

She was startled at first by the presence of another human being, and her eyes grew wide with worry--as much as she had hoped someone was there, it still frightened her somewhat. What if this man was bad? What if he wanted to hurt her? These questions raced through Anna's mind, making her shake in fear, her palms sweating.

She gulped and shook her head. How could this man think she was Wendla? Why did he even know who Wendla was? He didn't look like a German to her. "N--No," she answered finally, fiddling with the hem of her dress nervously and gnawing her lip.

He blinked blankly for a moment, so sure of his assumption that the fact that it was wrong stunned him for a second. "You're not --" He paused, apparently still trying to work it out. If she wasn't Wendla, then... who was she? Were there even more people out there besides Scotty, Wendla, and himself?

Oh dear, she seemed to be very, very afraid.

He tried to put on his best and most comforting smile, though the illusion failed and he still looked rather nervous, and he took another slight step forward towards her. "Oh -- I'm... I'm very sorry. Well then, uh, hello... my name is Andrew."

All right, so he didn't look or seem like some sort of bad man come to kidnap her or anything, so she stepped forward as well, gingerly, and took a breath.

"Um...um. I am--Anna," she said, still shaking a little and wringing her hands. This was all so very scary. The buildings around them looked so lonely and empty, and this frightened her. Everything was so quiet, aside from the two of them. It was eerie.
