Man... your husband gave you some great advice! You need to find pride who you are, and who you want to be, comparing ourselves to everyone around us may lead to complacency of being good enough, or anxiety of not being able to reach unattainable goals. I wish you all the luck in the world as you strive towards your goals!

As a closing statement, remember that as people, or artists, we will always be our own worst critics. Try to take your own worries with a grain of salt. You can be a great philosopher or artist just like them, because success isn't measured by financial achievement, but rather by confidence in yourself, and knowing that you've done the right things.

Absolutely! I'm definitely a work in progress, but I suppose we all are. I think that having goals just out of reach will always keep me motivated to keep going. For me, anyway, if the goals feel attainable but challenging, I will work hard to reach them. I think the problems with social media is that life just does not feel as perfect as it appears online, and so the effort to reach that level of perfection feels off. Not real.

Exactly. When you're husband said those are fake, he was right. Everyone on places like facebook only ever posts and shares the most positive things about themselves, but they hide the negative. I did the same, but I sorta panicked a deleted my facebook when I got out of jail. My social media circle is a much smaller group on Skype now. haha
