Actually it's been a crazy 6 months. My thesis, is written, for better or for worse, I guess I'll find out at some point. I don't have a defense date yet, so I'm still sitting around and waiting for that to be sorted. Probably end of June from the sounds of it ( Read more... )

Congrats on finishing your thesis! I'm sure you'll find something. Actually, I bumped into a friend of my cousin's who had a job that might be a good fit for you. She got her Ph.D. and became a science advisor for the British High Commission here in Ottawa. Perhaps you could be her opposite number in London (or move to Ottawa, hint, hint)!

Unfortunately, she's filled the position there right? Ah well, c'est la vie. I guess I can look for something like that here, unless your cousin's friend has a job opening over there... As for Ottawa... it's been one of the few places I've seen something posted, so you never know? I may need a floor to crash on for a bit....

Well, there may be room for more than one. Also, the fact that she has no ties to the UK suggests that there may be more embassies looking for scientific advisors. Or could could cozy up to the Canadian High Commission in London and see who's advising them.
