It's February here in Indiana. We've had an ice storm, we have snow on top of the still-here ice. And the weather is supposed to bring us even more snow in the next day or so ( Read more... )

I like the level of snow we've had, it's never more than 6", enough to cover the ground nicely while not being so much that I can't leave the house ever again....

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you. I guess I don't live in a place where we really get *hammered* with snow, so I haven't yet hit the "this is too much" limit. (I think having to shovel off the roof of the house would be my limit.) But short of that, yes, I too love the way that snow transforms the world into a kind of a faerie realm, filled with mystery and potential. And I love sunlight transformed into a luminous poem by icicles. I savor the cold, when the air is so chill and dry that it makes your hair stand on end and makes everything in the world feel electric and extra alive. The magical shape of each snowflake, and the taste of new-fallen snow.

I'm just a cold-weather, winter kind of guy. :-)
