I've heard that there might be a few pilots here besides myself and Biggs.

What did you fly?  Do any of you know what this is?  [And he very slowly, very carefully draws a schematic-ish side view of an Incom T-65 X-Wing.  He's practiced a lot on note paper, working off what he saw in the dream and what at some deep level he knows is part of the ( Read more... )

That looks very nice, indeed!

There are about ten test runs on scrap paper that I ended up showing to Biggs, letting him tell me what he thought I'd gotten wrong. Neither of us are 100% certain about how accurate this is, but it does look better now than it did before.

So thanks.

As for the flying animals, I've been trying to steer clear of any wildlife; I'm still not sure I'm able to handle myself in that situation.

That's probably sensible. But the stables have tamed animals, which are a bit more predictable. And not so large.

Oh look, the perfect use for Bridge's new "Oooh, shiny" icon handy_psychic January 25 2010, 02:17:25 UTC
THAT. IS. SO. AWESOME.

Hah. Glad you approve, sir.

I'd do better with better tools. Maybe I'll find them on the job.

Just Bridge is fine. ^^ I don't insist on titles~

Yeah, there's no telling what you'll find down there. I believe Maintenance also has tools available to borrow.

It appears to be a one-man craft of some sort; however, I have no clue what those pole-like things could be for.

I have been meaning to at least go and look at the flying animals housed near the racetrack; if I end up riding one of those, I will be sure to tell you what the experience was like.

They're laser cannons, mounted on... foils. Something-foils. The word came and went while I was writing.

Do you remember ever flying in a starfighter? Or any other single-person spacecraft?

...I'm not yet at the point in training where I'm comfortable taking Windmere - that's the griffin they're training me on - up in the air. Then again, she's so laid back I think I'll have trouble getting her off the ground.

No, I have regained no memory that had myself piloting anything like that. The drawing simply looked familiar, as though I had seen something like it before.

Ah, so it is spelled 'griffin'. [Pen taps] Strange the things we remember, or halfway remember, here.

Unfortunate. Thanks anyway, Fred.

The sign at the stables also has "gryphon", "gryffin", "griffon", and "gryphen" written on it. I don't think there's a correct spelling.

It appears to be a starfighter of some sort, but the specific make does not seem familiar.

It's definitely a starfighter. All I did in my dream was fly one, or possibly several. Four lasers, some torpedoes, shields, and I'm positive she handled well.

I just don't know what she is. Maybe they were custom fighters and only the other people in the squadron and I ever had them.

Man, this is what I get for slacking on writing his memory. live_ringer January 25 2010, 03:12:50 UTC
I've had glimpses of someone piloting during a dream--not my own, granted. It was the result of an odd happening going around the Sphere. It felt familiar, but I couldn't really say if that was the result of just being exposed to the dream.

Whatever the case, that particular make doesn't look familiar. The term 'shuttle' comes to mind when I look at it, but I don't know if a transport vehicle would have weaponry like that mounted on it.

Sorry to not be more help.

People had each others' dreams?

It's faster than a shuttle, and only one person can fit into it. Maybe two, though I don't think Mynock was humanoid.

Not a problem.

Yeah. It was... interesting.

...Mynock? Don't think I'm familiar with that term.

I'll bet.

They're power-sucking winged vermin. For some reason I called whatever was sitting behind me and screaming Mynock before I. [Strikes are scribbled out just after he finishes the I.]
