Hokuto had been preparing for this ball since she got the invitation. She had worked almost nonstop for days on her and Kakyou's outfits. Kakyou was wearing a dark gold tuxedo with seed pearls dotted along the edge of the lapel. His shirt was forest green and his gold bowtie was dusted with green glitter

"I'm ready," Kakyou replied quietly, smiling at Hokuto from his wheelchair. He felt slightly strange in clothing that was not his kimono or hospital gown, but it was nice to be in something different outside of a dream for once. And seeing Hokuto in her lovely clothing only made it all the better.

"Where are we going...?" he asked, tilting his head slightly. He was starting to get a little more control of his body.

"Did I forget to tell you? There's a ball tonight!" Hokuto giggled, adjusting his hair so some of it draped over his shoulder. "A New Year's Ball where we can eat, drink, and be pretty." She hugged him from behind, smiling.

Kakyou leaned into the hug, enjoying Hokuto's warmth. "I've never been to a ball..." he said, his voice still quiet but now slightly excited. "I'm glad I get to go to one with you, Hokuto-chan."

"I haven't really been to one, just formal Sumeragi functions and since I'm the clan head's sister, I have to be polite." Hokuto wrinkled her nose. "It's so stuffy!"

She stood up, unbraking his wheelchair. "Okay! Ready for our debut!" She giggled again, then wheeled him out of the apartment.
