Oh, TOO right.

And they aren't going to, either. In 30 years in the biz, not ONE of the people or organizations I did favors or pro bono work for have EVER mentioned me or passed on a lead. All of the referrals I have gotten have been from paid, professional clients and relationships.

That doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

I saw a spec work ad yesterday and emailed the guy saying "I don't do spec work, but I'll do your work for you for [half the prize money]. Here's my folio." He hasn't replied.

And I just know he thinks he's being incredibly clever and thinks I'm just trying to rip him off. I wish people who do it would realise that the chances of people who actually know what they're doing with design submitting something are minimal.

AND it's a logo design competition, and.. well, we both know what inexpertly-designed logos can look like.

Tbh he's probably going to end up with shit for twice what it would have cost to get something decent.
