But I bet when she gets back, she'll hold you to the deadline and expect the finished work delivered essentially overnight. I am also willing to bet that she has no clue why you cant do the letter head and PowerPoint template and drop in the logo later..
I second this.. I have specific time-tables, maximum edits and specific times built in when changes can be made.
I also have my contracts written to state that if the client fails to deliver what I need from them in the time frame, causing the project to not be able to be completed/started, that they have missed their chance. They either have to get back to the end of the line or if they don't want to wait, They then forfeit their deposit. I have clients booked back to back, during specific dates, many times with no room fuss with unorganized or clueless people.
Luckily, it usually doesn't get that far anymore. Those "clueless consumers" are usually turned down in the first place. I say it all the time, out of 5 clients, I turn down 4. I would rather have fewer, quality projects than a whole bunch of head-aches and wasted time.
Ok, I live in western MA. We do have Internet and stuff: if she's got you doing something under a deadline, she should bring something with Internet access with her. Like, oh I don't know, a cell phone or laptop? Crazy me, that would be too simple, huh?
I feel your pain. I hope you're getting these communications from her in writing, tho, so she can't bitch later that you're late.

If you pressure them you're a bitchy prima-donna.
