Just posted a new blog article. Calling Apple out on the current less than compelling, but pricey Mac Pro update and kicking Creative Pros to the curb.
Steve infamously called the Blu-Ray format a "bag of hurt" referring to the nightmare of licensing an encoding issues associated with the format. The other contrary opinion is that Apple (Steve) has their vision (and considerable money) wrapped around downloaded HD video from the cloud - the iTunes/iPad model. I suspect the two themes are related. However, over the history of Apple, when Steve doesn't like something... like Flash, most recently, don't hold your breath waiting

Thanks for the info (sorry I'm so late replying!) I gotta say, this is kind of the reason I stay away from Macs. Jobs' ego is out of control, evidenced by the new iPhone fiasco. He needs to get over himself. (As do a lot of Mac users, but that's a discussion for another day.) :)
Blu-Ray still hasn't taken off to the levels that were hoped, and due to the licensing involved it's an expensive prospect to add support. If it were flourishing, it'd be a much different story, but with other-more fluid, less license encumbered-options available, it's pretty easy to not want to support a near still-born property like Blu-Ray.
