look for books made by Phaidon or Rockport. Theyre expensive but a good resource. Also look for where it was made - European made books are much better. Borders bookstores, Kinokuniya bookstores (they are sealed here though), or bookstores of modern art museums are a good place to get them. Amazon works too if you know what you're looking for.
find a good store that only buys good design titles, and yeah phaidon do good books usually - a smile in the mind is a classic on witty design (dont look for aesthetics in it tho). Rockport books can be a mixed bag, but their newer stuff hasnt been too bad, and one of my favs is 2 colour graphics by rockport, was worth the buy. Idn pro do some interesting stuff, but they're an asian company (no offense, they're still real good) i think and sometimes can do some cheesy stuff, generally pretty good tho, their stuff dates quickly usually tho. You just have to sit in a store sometimes and check out heaps of books til you find some stunners. Talk to designers, they'll have their favs. peace out.
i dont know if you have any design bookstores near you but theres a book just called "structural packaging" that i saw in new york. i got to flip through it cause a friend of mine bought it and it looked pretty interesting i think it cost something like $40 or $50 you can probly find it on amazon. it was a hardcover with a cutout that popped into another thing wich kept the book closed. the book itself was really well designed.

Very, very cool series by Rockport (which someone else suggested). You'll drool over the pages.
