OK, _why_ the beer bottle in the wall?

A friend of mine is a plumber who helped me move the drain (you can understand how humiliating it is to have to move a drain 18", GAH!).

Anyway, he was fond of Anchor Steam and so we drank a few while we were working on it.The counter/cabinets/sink weren't in at the time, and so that spot became the defacto beer coaster. The window was the last thing I finished, so the beer remained there as the counter, sink, faucet etc went in. By the time I was finishing the window I figured I'd just leave it as a tribute/easter egg. Besides, where else do you keep an empty beer bottle?

Nice Easter egg. When I was a kid I tried to convince my dad to do something similar when he fixed a leak in the bathroom. Being more pragmatic then adventurous he killed the idea. I always hope that something neat like a note will be discovered. I asked him if we could leave a note in the wall. He said he didn’t want to find the note when it leaked again.

Although I'm sure he had many good qualities, it sounds like he may have had a slight allergy to fun. :)

I love finding stuff like that in the walls!

Livejournal land! That sounds like a slightly less fun version of Lego Land.

On the other hand, you're less likely to get hit with a brick. It's not entirely without upside.
