"War of the Worlds" bugged me. I really liked the book. The movie pissed me off. Tom Cruise pissed me off. Spielberg pissed me off. The aliens pissed me off

Tom Cruise has had two good roles. One was Minority Report because he had such an intriguing story behind him. The other was Rain Man, where he played a rich yuppy shithead. Yeah, big stretch for him.
Tom Cruise has been pissing me off for weeks, ever since he started his couch-jumping mating dance/prolonged made-for-TV makeout sessions with Katie Holmes bullshit.
I liked him in Last Samurai because the Asian people were cool. And I liked him Cocktail, because he was a dweeb and it seemed like he was pretty much playing himself.
Also second the mad-at-Spielberg thing. Thanks for casting ZHANG ZIYI as the lead and two other Chinese actresses in main roles in your film version of Arthur Golden's MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA - which happens to be about something quintessentially, uniquely JAPANESE. Total sell-out, uncreative move. Right, we're all the same. You shoulda made Schindler's List cast with all German actors.
Don't get me wrong, from what I've seen of it Last Samurai's a pretty decent movie, but I think Paul Mooney said it best.
"You know, I think it's an absolute disgrace. First they come out with the Mexican, starring Brad Ritt, and now they got the Last Samurai, starring Tom Cruise. Last Samurai? Pfft. I've got a movie idea for you. "The Last Nigga' on Earth" starring Tom Hanks."
