Oh me gosh. Good luck trying to get through Lord of the Rings. I've made the attempt twice and could never get farther than four chapter into the fellowship. Tolkien's style is a little too dry for me. >.>
Also, I agree that this list of 'great' books doesn't exactly seem up to snuff.
And I vote that you should have a doodle with every LJ post you do!

I know what you mean about LOTR, they were going on about mushrooms or something (do you think we could bold them considering we've seen the movies? That would be half the list right there.)

Make your own! :D And then people can compare, contrast and recommend!

I should try to doodle more often DX

It was totally the mushrooms that did me in too! Both times! It was like Tolkien thought that a thick books equals an epic book. And, okay, while LOTR *is* epic it's the kind of epic where you start shifting in your seat a whole lot and obsessively checking the time and number of pages left to go.
You do have a point there, though. Watching the movies is a test of endurance in and of itself and totally deserves a bolding on Ye Old Book Meme. XD
Ha ha. Maybe I will. But the only downside is that my poor literary taste will be on display for all to see. XD
You definitely should. Don't be a chump. Doodle!

I loved reading LoTR. I've read it... *counts* 8 times all through? Still can't remember half of it. I'm in it for the imagery, rather than the story. Tolkien sure knew how to build a world.

Mm. Although I think I was a bit too impatient for things to start happening XD

Hell yeah. Guy sure does take his time with telling the story. It's why the books are so damn dense. ;)
