"...then one day it all dawned on me..."

So, I have this problem: disillusionment with Drama. I've spent the past four years of my life doing Drama, working on every show (except one), and now I'm wondering what the hell I'm doing. Why am I dedicating my time to this? Is it that it used to be fun, and now it isn't? Or was it never fun to begin with, and I'm just an idiot for not ( Read more... )

8 shows is too little? We did 8 shows my freshman year and we still didn't have time to get them all done *well*.

And you guys will leave those repercussions behind for others to deal with, just as we did to you guys. One example was the four show formula. Four shows are the optimal amount, two are the minimum. My first freshman semester, we did ONE show. Just one for the entire semester. A lot of that was spent in ressurection, though. Fixing things up. Could use more of it.

Every year, you hear people bitch and complain and get screwed over by drama. 80% of the time, it takes until plebe week for them to realize the very simple solution is getting out of it. The huge majority of people regret not leaving earlier, and the eternal answer is "we told you so".

I am so sad that I didn't take band in middle or high school. Or orchestra.

On a sadly small personal level, I still enjoy all the work I'm doing and I'm still learning doing drama. But I agree with you about all the early casting and the returning directors, for the most part. There should either me more shows or less returning directors ( ... )

I've been feeling more or less the same way since last year.

And as far as whether or not it was fun to start off with, well, your freshman year sounded like one of the most fun years I could have imagined. That's just my imagination though.

Were it not for acting, I'd have spaced myself from drama a long time ago, and just become completely introverted and done nothing but played music. Now, that seems more and more likely, since I can't do drama because of family things.

Drama has very little to offer me, except for Adkins being a silly man and high blood pressure from watching stupid bullshit unfold (as well as being within earsot from Paloma.)
