Someone asked me to do a tutorial a long time ago, well here it is. Just follow the steps and everything will be fine ;)

Crop your base to 100x100.

Duplicate twice and set them both to screen 100%. (It always depends on how dark the cap/pic is)

Create a new layer and fill it with #114169 and set it to exclusion 50%.

Create a new layer and fill it with a light grey #C0C0C0 and set to Soft Light 100%.

Create another layer and fill it with #8CBEE1 and set to Soft Light 50%.

Create the last layer and fill it with #F0E0C7 and set to Soft Light 50%.

Then, you merged all the layers.

Now, Duplicate and set to Color Burn 100%.

You should have this

But I want it darker, so I duplicate and set to Color Burn 25 %.

Now you have something like this

To finish up, all you have to do is to play with the colors. I always like icons with vibrant colors. Usually I use the Color Balance, the Curves and the Saturation .

Image Adjustments > Hue/Saturation and put Saturation to +15

And you end up with this

If you have any questions, just ask me ;)
