It was Donleavy...in the library...with a stack of books and an angry glare.

Had Clue been around in Patricia Louise Donleavy's day, she would probably have found it just as inane and pointless as any other amusement. So, instead of attempting to venture outside on this nice day to go hunting or play tennis, she is once more in the library.

No you see him, now you don't. Now you see him, you see him, you don't, you see him.

"Master William Shakespeare," Puck replies, grinning a bit wider. "He definitely wrote what he knew, and I daresay, his poetry was palatable."

"Ah. I read a great deal of Shakespeare in school. I rather liked the tragedies."

Agent Pendergast stoops to pluck a book from the floor, where it had landed at his feet. The Secret Files of the Diogenes Club. A faint shiver runs down his spine and though he knows the book isn't referring to the Diogenes he knows, he feels that one Diogenes in the world is certainly enough. No clubs are needed.

With a quiet clearing of the throat, Pendergast offers the book to Patricia with a slight bow. "I believe you -- launched this?" he asks, his smooth Louisiana accent exuding Southern charm and politeness.

"Oh, yes," she replies, without apologizing.

"Such dreadfully useless tripe."

He gives a small, enigmatic smile, flipping absently through the book. "Perhaps I could make a recommendation, if I knew your tastes in literature?"

"I generally enjoy mysteries, as well as more serious academic works."
