this could get messy (introduction)

It's strange. Again. Just when things were getting better then he had to show up and ruin everything. Maeglin sometimes known as Lomion fought the urge to spit. They would all see, though. Tuor and Turgon and all the rest who looked askance at him for being his father's son and thought the seed of madness or evil was simply lurking waiting to ( Read more... )

Bilbo Baggins has gotten terribly bored during his time at the mansion. There are only so many books of poetry one can read before going a bit crazy after all and so he has taken to walking with his pocket full of evil. He's also decided to start giving out advice at random since it's obvious that very few people are capable of doing things for themselves without some good Hobbit sense to help them. It's a free service of course.

"You know, it's much easier to get people to form a good first opinion of you if you don't walk around looking mad and disagreeable."

Advice given, he turns to go on his merry way.

Maeglin almost doesn't notice Bilbo, looking at the wrong level, but he does figure it out, and then for a moment his expression is one of disdain before it vanishes and he laughs. Not a dwarf, what is it, then? "Your pardon, small one. I am merely..."

It's probably his own connection with Morgoth that does it, and he stiffens, slightly as Bilbo turns.

"A moment, please," slightly more clipped.

Bilbo is beginning to doubt he can ever have a normal conversation with an elf. It's the ring that's doing it, he knows, but he can't very well just put it somewhere for safekeeping. Instead he relies on his own sense and Sting for his souvenir's protection. (Not knowing that the maker of Sting is the elf speaking to him.)

"Yes?"

Maeglin would be surprised to recognize the blade Bilbo is using, let alone using it as a full length sword. It might even amuse him, but who knows. At any rate, this elf gives him a smile, ingratiating again, and once more the picture of relaxation. "I do - seem to find myself lost, it would be quite helpful to have some instruction on the ways of this place..."

Combing Bilbo with his eyes, a little, trying to find where whatever gives him that off sense is, but not quite able to find it.

He's been quiet, much too quiet, lately. Maeglin's arrival stirs him again, and his mind stretches from his dark prison.

::You have come to me, son of the Darkness.

By typist request, private plotline, blah blah blah.

In other words, because I am a Bad Person.

He almost shudders a bit, at first, surprised, for a moment, but of course, Caranthir said- he straightens, braces. His voice, when he speaks, is firm and assured, cold. He was promised vengeance. "Lord. You are here."

::I would not be out of reach, where my servants walk.:: The voice is booming in Maeglin's head, though silence still surrounds him.

::It is good that you have come.::

It does, and it's that that almost makes him stagger. The force of it is incredible. The last, however, makes him blink. "It is? Why, Lord, if I may ask?"
