That Party is Overdue (open post)

Marguerite spread out several notebooks on cushions and small tables in the main lounge. She wandered between them, reading a snippet here, making a note there. Eventually she stopped to survey the room, chewing on the end of the pen.

"Why am I so behind?" she lamented out loud. "This is long overdue."

Then she shrugged to turn back to her notes.

Scherehazade walks in, and tilts her head in examination. "Oh, are we having a feast?"

This is exciting. After all, her life has been remarkably quiet on the boat, these past months.

Pardon my failbot, but is this also the party post persay, or just a pre-party thing?

"I hope to," Marguerite answers almost cheerfully. She lowers her pen, and straightens up, one of the notebooks in her arms. "I don't think we've met. I'm Marguerite Blakeney."

[OOC: It's pre-party. Marguerite has been working on this since April, but I fail.]

Scherehazade smiles in response. "Sherehazade bint Diran," she replies with a very polite head incline. "We have not, but I only arrived here lately..."

Life interferes. Is cool <3

Marguerite inclines her head with a little moue of a frown. "You can call me Marguerite if it would make you feel comfortable. Which... of those names would you prefer I call you?" Marguerite's education didn't include much about Near Eastern cultures.

"Welcome to our humble ship, I should add."

Johnny wanders in, and observes the lady - he remembers her for a quite pleasant game of cards. The fact that her bustles sways attractively probably helps jolt his memory as well. He's looking nonchalant enough, but there's a friendly light in his eyes.

"Well hello there. I see you're not playing cards any more."

Meh, forgive his lecherous tendencies, it's just the way he is. Also, I'm going to be sporadic today, but I do keep threads going, so... yeah. Just bear with me, plz? ^__^

"No, I'm not. How are you doing, Johnny isn't it?" She made a few more notes, then straightened. "I haven't seem many souls around while I've worked on this, then I decided I needed the air and moved out here." Marguerite always had a gracious smile for a young man.

He smiles back. "Yeah, it's been quiet. We've had a few card games, but that's about it on this end as well. There's a couple new arrivals, though." He pauses to light a cigarette, without asking. "Did you notice?"

"I've been distracted, hardly out of my room until now," she murmurs. "I'm sure Armand has though. He likes meeting new people." She did as well, but she'd bee busy lately, so busy. She dreamed about lists at night. Planning parties never used to be so difficult.

Mary has decided to venture out on her own to see more of the ship, and her explorations eventually bring her to the main lounge. She stops when she sees Marguerite and watches her quietly for a moment, not wanting to interrupt or startle her. She approaches slowly with a small smile on her face.

Marguerite is in the process of ripping a page out of one of her notebooks. She stands up, smiles, and tosses the wad of paper casually over her shoulder. There are numerous other paper balls scattered about the floor. "Yes, is there something I can do for you?"

Mary smiles shyly. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt. I'm new, and I thought I would explore the ship a bit more. I just-- was watching you." She blushes slighting, feeling a little embarrassed at having been caught spying. "I didn't mean to intrude. Could you use some help?"

Remembering her manners, she offers a small but polite bow. "I'm Mary, by the way."

I'm sorry. Marguerite is harder for me. cleverest_woman July 13 2009, 16:30:27 UTC
"Oh, tis no problem. I am merely making a fool of myself taking weeks, no months, to plan a simple party." She waves a hand and nods instead of curtsying. "I'm Marguerite."
