Since it's AU and a prequel of sorts it's not as important to know the characters beforehand as it might be otherwise. Although I wouldn't have known Kanan and Hakkai are related if it weren't for the coments.

BTW, I read the first chapter of Saiyuki awhile ago (yeah, I didn't read more; MangaFox can be hard to read with all that clicking) and I agree that Sanyo (do I have that right?) looks and acts like Eiri Yuki's long-lost twin brother.
